RWA Flooring Associates, a family–owned commercial flooring company, was recently acquired by Intertech Flooring as
part of an expansion into the Dallas/Fort Worth market. The combined companies will now operate under the name RWA/Intertech
Flooring and have a presence in four large Texas markets. Both companies have experience in green and eco–friendly
commercial flooring projects, which is a floor covering market that continues to grow throughout Texas.
Tuesday, September 1, 2009 (Austin Business Journal) –– Intertech Flooring has acquired a commercial flooring
company in the Dallas/Fort Worth area as part of the company’s expansion into that market.
Intertech purchased RWA Flooring Associates, a 12–year old family–owned business with 14 employees. Financial
terms were not disclosed. RWA is a commercial flooring company with an office in Grapevine. It recently completed flooring
work for the new Dallas Cowboys Stadium in Arlington.
Intertech now has a presence in four Texas markets – Austin, San Antonio, Rio Grande Valley and the Dallas/Fort
Worth Metroplex. With the acquisition of RWA, Intertech now has 140 employees statewide. The acquisition will increase the
Austin–based company's annual revenue by about one–third, according to Intertech founder Bill Imhoff.
While Intertech is acquiring all of RWA Flooring’s assets and operations, Intertech will not change RWA's management or
employees. However, the company will now operate under the name RWA/Intertech Flooring.
RWA founder Russ White will become chief operating officer of RWA/Intertech. Intertech's Imhoff will continue to serve as
president and CEO of Intertech Flooring.
"We have wanted to move into the Dallas–area market for some time, but it had to be the right fit, and we found it
in Russ White and his team at RWA," Imhoff said. "Russ has built an impressive business over the past dozen years, and our
two companies share very similar cultures. Bringing the talent and expertise of these two organizations together will be very
positive for clients and employees and will enable us to expand product and service offerings to better serve the region's
commercial construction sector."
Both companies have expertise in environmentally friendly commercial flooring projects.
Imhoff said his business is now the largest commercial flooring company in Texas. He said he plans to continue the
expansion into Houston in the future, once economic conditions improve.
