Pioneer Millworks

Pioneer Millworks of Farmington NY, is one of the oldest operators of recycled wood. The company purchases used wood from any source from industrial demolition projects to old barns. Reclaimed timber is a particularly choice selection because of its low moisture content and dimensional stability. This is the base raw material that is recycled and converted to wood flooring. Pioneer Millworks offers wood flooring in a wide variety of species, both in hardwood and softwood. A further choice is the character of wood, whether rustic or more refined. Apart from being an environmentally–friendly choice, reclaimed wood flooring offers a sense of continuity, inexorably linked with history.

The company also deals in recycled engineered hardwood and softwood. The wear layer in recycled engineered wood is at least 5 mm thick for a lasting performance. Only FSC certified plywood is used to ensure it is harvested from a sustainable source and only low VOC adhesive for bonding. This combination offers an assurance to the customer of environmentally friendly flooring.

The company undertakes complete dismantling of barns in states adjacent to its location. It prides itself on its unique ability to make such antique woods reusable. Pioneer Millworks has recently launched its Black and Tan Reclaimed Oak. This floor is so called because underlying its black coat of paint, when removed, is the rich tan–colored oak. This flooring is available in a number of appearances ranging from a full black with the paint intact to tan with all the black removed to unveil the deep patina of natural oak with freshly–exposed grain.
