Green Furniture to go with Green Floors

Have green floors in your home and want some green furnishings to go with it? Some of the most popular materials used to make eco-friendly furniture include bamboo and reclaimed hardwood. Buy a bamboo table to go with your strand-woven bamboo floors. There are so many choices when it comes to buying green décor and furniture for a sustainable home.

To ensure that the wood furniture you buy is environmentally friendly, make sure that it's made with wood from a FSC-certified forest. FSC stands for Forest Stewardship Council, an organization that promotes responsible forest practices. You can buy tables, headboards, chairs and entertainment centers made with green wood materials. Reclaimed hardwood is also popularly used to make home furnishings. Many companies solely produce furniture made from used wood that have been taken from vacant factories and barns.

Bamboo is another great green material that's often used to make furniture. A number of retailers sell beds and tables made of Moso bamboo, one of the most popular bamboo types used in furniture manufacture. Moso bamboo is native to Japan and China and can grow up to a height of 70 feet. Like other bamboo types, Moso bamboo (also referred to as Mao bamboo) is edible and is strong enough to be used to make a variety of furniture, including patio furniture.

Not only is green furniture just as beautiful as furniture made with new materials, they can help promote healthier outdoor and indoor quality (IAQ). Choosing bamboo and reclaimed hardwood furnishings for your home is also a great way to reduce global deforestation.

I found eco-friendly furniture to go with my new eco-friendly bamboo floors but I was wondering... I read so much about green washing I don't want to be fooled into thinking products are green when they are not. My bamboo flooring is eco-friendly and I want to keep with the environmentally friendly theme. I found slate tables, and stands at Target.com but does anyone have any suggestions?
