Eco-Friendly Laminate Flooring

Many laminate flooring manufactures have refined their laminate manufacturing process to create eco–friendly laminate flooring. Eco–friendly laminate, also known as green flooring comes in many varieties and can have several “shades of green”. If you aren’t familiar with this term, it means that there are several different ways that a product, laminate in this case, can be considered eco–friendly. Shades of green range from products that are environmentally friendly in many areas to less eco–friendly floors that may be considered green in one area, but not in several other areas.

Laminate flooring can be made from recycled wood content meaning that manufactures don’t need to have fresh trees harvested to make their laminate floors. Many laminate manufacturers are also adamant in ensuring that levels of volatile organic compounds (VOC), which includes formaldehyde, in their laminates are within the standards set forth by international health organizations. If you choose glue–less floating laminate floors, commonly known as click together laminate, you can often remove and reuse the planks or strips in another room if you grow tired of them and decide you need new flooring.

In addition to the materials used to create the end product, laminate floor manufacturers can also use green manufacturing processes. By implement eco–friendly recycling programs, water and energy conservation programs, and taking other innovative steps to conserve resources and reduce waste, many eco–friendly laminate flooring manufactures are doing their part to protect our eco–system. By buying eco–friendly laminate flooring you can do your part too!

I really like how laminate flooring can be made from recycled wood content meaning that manufactures don’t need to have fresh trees harvested to make their laminate floors. That is a great concept to keep building on.
