The main resource for managing the LEED documentation process is LEED Online. It offers a common platform for various members of a project team to work together toward coordinating documentation as required for the LEED rating system. All projects have to be certified using LEED online, except those projects registered under LEED for homes. LEED Online is a convenient way for members of a project team to:

  • Submit applications for review
  • Furnish documentation requirements required for LEED credits and prerequisites
  • Upload supporting files
  • Earn LEED certification
  • Receive feedback from the viewer

LEED Online version 3

Projects registered under LEED 2009 are eligible for LEED Online version 3. Customers may upgrade to the corresponding LEED rating system free of any registration fee till 12.31.2009.

Apart from being faster, more convenient and user–friendly, this new version offers many advanced features to improve productivity and efficiency. The following is a birds–eye view of the superior functionality of v3:

  • Project Organization is eased by enabling any team member of a registered LEED project to view, sort, and group projects according to a wide range of characteristics like project traits, design, location, management firms etc. It also allows them access to other projects with similar characteristics.
  • It facilitates administration of team members including the assignment of individual credits. The whole system of credit assignment is made more flexible.
  • It incorporates status indicators and timelines to keep an instant track on aspects of project progress compared with target dates. The steps in the review system and certification process are more simply explained.
  • Certification Review and Submissions are supported.
  • Offers enhanced functionality in submission of documentation and certification forms.
  • Each project team can access the entire certification process from end to end and review its various phases. It helps beginners decide which LEED rating system is best suited to their particular project. Experienced users go through the process much quicker.
  • Better communication during a LEED review. Clarifications can be swiftly dealt with to complete a review. A mid–review clarification page alerts the project team if any minor clarifications are needed for review completion.
  • After initial submission of data the information is automatically fed into fields whenever required for several LEED credits. This data linkage saves the user considerable time and effort by eliminating the need for re–entry. An overriding option allows the insertion of altered data if necessary.
  • Performs data checks automatically and gives alerts to missing data fields so eliminating process delays.
  • V3 shows only data fields relevant to the particular project situation that has been selected. All extraneous templates and content is hidden thus simplifying the filling–in procedure.
