Voting will be open from December 3, 2009 for election to the USGBC Board of Directors for 2010. The election process is
open to all employees if USGBC member organizations to cast their vote. The Council encourages all eligible voters to
exercise their franchise toward shaping it future and by implication, to orchestrate the future of green building.
The Board of Directors of the USGBC carries the responsibility of propagating and sustaining the vision, mission and
values of the Council. Three board meetings are held annually with all directors meeting in person. However teleconferences
are held between them at intervals throughout the year. The Board comprises the President/CEO, ‘at large’ directors,
representatives from USGBC’s member communities and membership categories, and from the Regional Councils of USGBC chapters.
In addition there are directors representing unique perspectives who are appointed by the Board of Directors. An elected
director serves a three–year term and may serve two terms consecutively. Appointed directors serve a two–year
term and may serve three terms consecutively.
The Board of Directors sets and approves strategic direction of the Council and establishes and authorizes the broad
policies under which the Council acts.
