The Composite Panel Association (CPA) was formed to represent the composite panel industry which includes manufacturers of
furniture, doors, cabinets, moldings, decorative surfaces, and laminate products such as laminate flooring. CPA’s members
consist of 40 of the top medium density fiberboard (MDF), hardboard, and particleboard manufacturers. Members include BASF,
Shaw, Kronotex, Wilsonart, and several other laminate flooring manufacturers. Together, the members of the Composite Panel
Association represent almost 95% of the manufacturing capacity of the composite panel industry in Mexico, Canada, and the US
combined.
The main objective of the CPA is to provide the composite panel industry with product standards by providing product
testing as well as regulatory, technical, and quality assurance standards. CPA offers third–party certification with
the Environmentally Preferable Product (EPP) certification program. CPA also works with governmental agencies in developing
ANSI and ASTM standards.
