I recently had a customer ask what the Environmentally Preferable Purchasing program is, hence the inspiration for this
carpet blog. Environmentally Preferable Purchasing or EPP is a set of guidelines used by the federal government that assists
them in buying green products such as green (eco–friendly) carpet. It takes into account not only the carpet's
environmental impact, but also its performance, price competitiveness, and availability. The EPP guidelines do not endorse
specific carpet flooring products, but do provide valuable information in weighing the green attributes of carpet.
Buying green carpet is important for several reasons. Green carpet promotes a healthy Indoor Air Quality (IAQ) and
preservation of our planet earth by reducing our dependence on petroleum based products and also reducing landfill waste and
other pollution. In my opinion, by adhering to the Environmentally Preferable Purchasing program, the federal government is
setting a good example in conserving our planet that should be followed by all. For more information on EPP and purchasing
green (eco–friendly) carpet, visit FindAnyFloor.com's buying guide to green carpet.
