CRI Seal of Approval on Carpet Cleaning Solutions

By choosing carpet cleaning solutions with the Carpet and Rug Institute (CRI) Seal of Approval you can rest assured that your carpet is being cleaned with an effective and safe carpet cleaning solution.

The CRI Seal of Approval can be achieved by carpet spot removers, pre–spray stain treatments, and in–tank cleaning solutions. It is important to first mention that using home carpet cleaning solutions should not replace your regular professional carpet cleaning schedule. Home carpet cleaning methods can however, be used to keep your carpets fresh in between professional deep cleaning extractions.

Before the Carpet and Rug Institute gives a carpet cleaning solution their CRI Seal of Approval, they test the product in an independent laboratory using criteria that has been scientifically accredited. CRI’s testing evaluates the carpet cleaning solution’s ability to effectively remove soil and stains as opposed to simply using plain water. In addition, CRI also takes into consideration the products, colorfastness (meaning that it is not so strong that is changes the carpet’s color), and the carpet cleaner’s pH level. Cleaning solutions with a more neutral pH are less likely to harm the carpet fibers or the carpet dye itself.

In addition, the CRI Seal of Approval will not be given to any carpet cleaners that use optical brighteners as these can leave light patches on your carpet and also cast a yellow shade on lightly colored carpets after time. CRI also ensures that carpet cleaning solutions with the Seal of Approval do not have a major effect on the carpet surface’s texture and does not make the carpet quick to re–soil. Some cleaning solutions can leave a residue that attracts dirt faster than carpet that has not been cleaning with any product, and CRI will not give their approval to these products.

With all of these facts in mind, the benefits of buying carpet cleaning solutions with the CRI Seal of Approval are clear. CRI makes it easy to find the right pre–stain carpet treatment, spot remover, or in–tank solution to quickly and confidently clean your carpet.
