Glass Tile Flooring Benefits

For those who have never seen glass tile flooring before, it may be difficult to understand how truly beautiful and unique they can be. You can install glass flooring in most household areas and even pair them with underground lighting. They even work well as a stair installation. As if that weren't enough, glass tiles can also be manufactured with post-industrial and post-consumer content (e.g. glass bottles; tiles).

Glass tile floors come offers a wide range of possibilities. They can be iridescent, frosted, or translucent. A number of tile manufacturers create eco-friendly glass tiles that resemble the inside of a seashell, while others custom paint glass tiles for unique patterns. The great thing about glass tile flooring is that it can be individualized to suit most decor and purposes.

Another benefit of glass tiles is that they can resist damage from acid rain, water and harsh outside conditions. This makes them suitable for outdoor installation on porches, decks and even in swimming pools. Glass tiles can also be textured for installation in these areas so as to minimize the chance of slipping. One of the only things you need to remember about glass tile floors is that they're susceptible to scratching upon dirt contact. A routine sweep and mop should do the trick. Remember to stick to floor cleaning products that are recommended by the manufacturer.

I was thinking about installing glass tiles in my living room because below the floor is a billiards room my husband and I built and I thought it would look cool to look down onto a billiards room we built ourselves, under our house... I was also thinking of doing the same thing or at least one or the other in another room over our wine cellar. We have built both of these rooms as extensions and I want to show them off... Does anyone think this is a good idea?
