I just bought a new home that has a weight room and home exercise area. It currently has a rubber floor and I dont like the color. I am guessing I cant paint these rubber floor mats, so I need to buy new flooring. This rubber floor is a roll and I want to buy the interlocking rubber flooring that fits like a puzzle. I dont want the crazy colors that I have seen for gym flooring online. Hoe can I exercise at home when the colors are making my head spin. Where can I buy this rubber or foam interlocking home gym floor? Any help would be appreciated so that I can start my exercise routine in a room that I feel good in.

P.S. I love my new home. It has cork floors which are a little like rubber floors but look like hardwood flooring.

You are correct. Rubber flooring cannot be painted. We have been manufacturing virgin rubber interlocking tiles for gyms for over 40 years. The problem with rolled rubber flooring is that unless it glued down- which most homewoners don't want to do- you will have unsightly gaps at the seams. In addition to traditional "jig-saw" interlocks, some of our tiles also have hidden tongue in groove style interlocks which look great for multi-color layouts because of the straight edge at the seam. The "crazy colors" you refer to are often lightweight eva foam multi color tiles that are often found in children's play areas. We developed our virgin rubber Value Lock tiles to have soft, designer colors that are not only extemely durable under strength and cardio equipment but look great as well

This is a great post, thanks for all the info! I'm looking into purchasing home gym flooring, but not sure which is better - foam or rubber, as you mentioned above. The room we're using as a "home gym" currently has hardwood flooring, and I've read a couple articles that state getting something that is not breathable for home gym flooring will cause discoloration in the hardwood.

Any recommendations on materials and/or types of interlocking tiles that will be breathable but still durable for withstanding cardio activity? I plan to place an elliptical on the flooring in that room.

I have interlocking foam tile floor over hardwood in my weight room at home. The wood is damaged where it appears the concrete slab has sweated under the foam flooring. Is there a way to prevent the floor from sweating under these tiles. The damage has occured where equipment was sitting on the floor tile so apparently it sweats more where equipment is on the flooring.
