The Robus Corporation is a forty year–old company based in Madison, Indiana. The company was founded with the
objective of manufacturing 100% genuine bonded leather for the American footwear industry. The company continues to
manufacture bonded leather but caters now to a variety of leather–oriented industries, including flooring. Robus
Leather’s products are now being exported to 25 countries around the world. With continuous research and development, Robus
is seeking new ways for providing superior value to its customers. The company is updating its manufacturing processes and
introducing new quality control initiatives to ensure it remains a prime source for cost–effective, quality bonded
leather.
Bonded leather is form of reconstituted leather which is a cost–effective alternative to genuine leather. It uses
recycled leather as raw material which is milled and formed with fat liquors and bonding agents and finally rolled into
sheets and dried. Bonded leather is 100% genuine, not to be confused with artificial or synthetic leather. It offers the
durability and other characteristics of genuine leather but at a fraction of the cost.
As part of its diversification initiative, the company started manufacturing leather floor tiles. It is now accepted as
one of the country’s leading manufacturers of leather tiles. Robus tiles are manufactured from bonded leather. These are
produced in five series – Americana, Décor, Traditional, Black Pearl and Corinthian. Each series differs from
the other
in finish and design, but all are of 24” x 24” in thickness of 1/8”. All Robus tiles have a stunning
appearance and provide
any space in which they are installed a feeling of luxury. Robus floor tiles are durable and lasting yet easy to maintain.
The company offers a 25 year limited residential warranty and a 5 year limited commercial warranty on all its tiles.
Robus leather tiles are truly green and contribute credits toward the US Green Building Council’s (USGBC) LEED program.
The tiles are made of 70% post–industrial leather scrap and are reusable themselves which makes the product eminently
eligible. Robus tiles are classified as a rapidly renewable resource. They also qualify for credit being innovative in design
and constituted of low emission materials.
