Decorate your Flooring with Listellos

Listello is an Italian word for a narrow border or molding. Borders and moldings called Listellos are often made of stone (travertine, marble, slate, granite, etc.), glass, or ceramic and often have intricate designs which can be used to decorate your flooring. Listellos can be used to add character to a number of different floor coverings including hardwood flooring, ceramic or stone tile, laminate, bamboo, and more. Throughout this blog I will be providing some ideas of different ways to use Listellos in your flooring installation.

Using Listellos to Create a Border

Natural Stone Listello by Laura AshleyYou can install Listellos around the perimeter of your room to create a visual border. Listello borders also work great for creating a border around an item in your room (i.e. bathtub, area rug, fireplace), or can be used to visually separate different areas in a multi–function room.

Using Listellos within a Tile Design

Daltile Glass ListelloBecause Listellos are often decorative and have beautiful designs, they are commonly added in to spice up the pattern of a tile floor installation, rather than only being used to create a separate border. By creating tile and stone patterns that include Listellos, you add visual interest to your floor which not only looks great, but can also add to the features and value of your home.

Before you start installing tile, hardwood, laminate, or just about any other hard surface floor, ask your retailer what Listellos they recommend to decorate your flooring.

Those are awesome. I actually want to do my counter tops in tile with some nice borders like that.
