Fontenay Woods have been in the flooring business for nearly a quarter of a century. It specializes in sophisticated and unusual lines of flooring, countertops and furniture. The raw materials that go into these products are old, reclaimed wine barrels and tanks. The company has a unique line in custom wood flooring which is hand–finished and hand–distressed to give it that original antique appearance and antiquated old world charm of its own. The overall effect is not merely distinctive but a masterpiece of timeless ingenuity.

Fontenay is one of the only flooring manufacturers to use reclaimed wine barrels as the starting material for flooring. The company collects barrel heads which are precision milled into two types of flooring. In one they use the outside of the barrel heads leaving cooper stamps and special markings untouched for that unique and historical touch. The timber retains the patina acquired over time. In the second flooring type, the interior of the barrels form the exposed surface of the flooring which retains its natural rich wine–infused color.

The company has three flooring collections:

• The Vintage Barrel Collection comprises proprietary products handcrafted from reclaimed American Oak wine barrels sourced from the California wine country.
• The Dove Cote Collection is a blend of European charm and American craftsmanship where each plank is handcrafted for perfect balance.
