3 Reasons to Get Green Flooring

In recent years, many homeowners assumed that one had to start from scratch and spend a fortune in order to make their home or office "greener." That is simply not the case anymore. In fact, eco-friendly flooring can be very affordable and may even help you save money in the long run! Below are 3 reasons you should go green in your home.

  1. Green flooring can be renewable. Many green floor types are comprised of renewable and biodegradable materials. Some floor examples include linoleum, natural rubber made from latex, linoleum, and bamboo.

  2. Going green is essential for future generations. By choosing flooring made from recycled materials you can help preserve the environment and reduce the amount of landfill waste. Almost all floor types can be recycled. When disposing of old flooring to make room for a new one, contact a reclamation center and have them dispose of it for you.

  3. Green flooring can be healthier for you. Many floor types are considered green because they pollute less harmful chemicals into the atmosphere. For example, vinyl flooring can outgas toxic chemicals into the air for years after it's installed. In comparison, linoleum flooring, made almost entirely from natural materials, does not.

Choosing to go green with your flooring will not only help the environment, it can also raise the standard of living in your home. For more reasons to get green flooring, check out our Green-Friendly Flooring section.
