I recently had a discussion with a co-worker of mine about who the largest floor covering retailer is both online and in retail stores. When it comes to online flooring retailers, Lumber Liquidators reigns supreme. Until their recent bankruptcy and liquidation, iFloor would have been the easy number 2 online but now it that could be one of many online retailers such as Floor Mall, Fast Floors, Build Direct or Simple Floors.  The real debate was about the brick and mortar retail stores. To be honest, neither of us knew for sure who the largest was. It really depends on what you consider largest to mean - Is it the most profitable business, the one with the high volume of sales, or the one with the most stores?

As you can see, this conversation quickly became a debatable one. Since not all flooring retailers are publically traded, it is hard to be sure. Retailers aren't exactly announcing their profits and sales numbers in easy-to-Google content. If these claims ring true, then FlooringAMERICA® would indeed be the #1 flooring retailer. It's hard to say for sure with a lack of data from other flooring companies to compare.
