Got Space? Design a Den with a Virtual Room Designer

Do you have an extra room and don’t know what to do with it? If you’ve got space, you can design a den with a virtual room designer.

So what exactly is a den? I thought to myself before writing this blog on designing dens using virtual room designers. I’ve seen dens designed to look like home offices or libraries, extra living rooms, game rooms, and so on. I needed an answer so I Googled it and found that I’m not the only one who was a little confused. Some say that a den is used as an office, small study area, or even a library. Others refute that and say that a den is meant to be a comfortable place to relax, hang out, or play games – a sort of congregation area. Some that believe a main living room is no place for a TV to be located often design a den as a second living area for watching television (or in some cases watching sports, drinking beer, and smoking cigars). What it comes down to is that a den can be whatever you want it to be.

Once you decide on what you will use your den for, you can design your den using an online virtual room designer. Several flooring companies have created these interactive room design tools to help you choose not only your floor covering, but also your wall and trim paint colors, and colors of furnishings such as desks, shelves, and other furniture that you may decide to place in your den.

Some virtual room designers also allow you to upload a picture of your actual living space and alter it to your specifications by changing the flooring, paint colors, and more. So if you’ve got space, you can use virtual room designer tools to design a den that is tailored to your specifications with just a few clicks of the mouse.
