I recently took on a flooring installation project for a friend of mine. She asked me to help her buy and install laminate flooring in her kitchen, but she had no idea where to start or how much laminate she needed to buy. Not only is her kitchen oddly shaped, but the floor has an island in the middle, and tons of cabinets that are firmly affixed. My friend was on a very tight budget and wanted to buy the least amount of laminate flooring possible to get the job done. This is when I logged on to FindAnyFloor's easy-to-use floor measuring tool and started clicking away.

First, I was able to start by choosing a room design that closely fit her kitchen's shape (single corner intrusion in this case). Next, using click and drag arrows, I was able to resize the room shape to her kitchen's exact measurements down to the inch. Next, I easily added in her kitchen's angled wall and voila! I was able to transfer her kitchen layout to my computer screen.

For the cabinets and island I was able to drop and drag shapes to create non-flooring areas on my grid. Again, by measuring these areas and resizing them, I was able to map these items out down to the inch. Once my room design and my non-flooring areas were in place, the next step brought me to an estimate of how many square feet of laminate flooring we needed to purchase to complete the project. After installation, with 10 planks to spare in case of future repairs, I would say we nailed it on the head!

Use the Quick Click floor estimator tool to figure out how much flooring material you need for your bamboo, rubber or vinyl floor installation.

I used this tool when I was designing my kitchen just to budget for prices on my new marble floors. I love this tool because if I hadn't used it to measure out every nook and cranny of my kitchen I would have definitely over paid and had a whole bunch of marble stone slabs left in my garage. This flooring calculator is a great tool for anyone who is thinking of remodeling whether it be on your own or having a professional installing it for you. I had a professional come in but I still wanted to know how much I needed etc. so I wouldn't get ripped off!
