Kitchen flooring can get a real beating from active and attention-seeking dogs. For the sake of your kitchen, and
pocketbook, it’s important that you choose a floor that can stand up to your dogs’ wear and tear. Depending on the size of
your pooch, this could entail choosing a high–quality and high–cost floor covering. Keep in mind that dogs can
tear, scratch, bite and pee on floors on a daily basis.
While my dogs have passed the puppy stage, they still have indoor accidents from time to time. After much trial and error,
I’ve come to find that the best kitchen flooring for my dogs is tile. Tile flooring can withstand urine and water spills
without suffering short– or long–term damage. Additionally, I can mop them as often as needed with dish soap and
water. All in all, cleaning up after my dogs is cheap, easy and trouble–free.
The subject of kitchen flooring and dogs can be a real dilemma for those who have large rambunctious pups and a small
budget. Some of the more durable floor types (e.g. high–pressure laminate) can be somewhat expensive. When it comes to
flooring, you get what you pay for. While some kitchen floor types can entail high upfront costs, in the long run, they may
just help you save money.
Some Kitchen Floor Types for Dogs:
- Linoleum flooring
- Ceramic tile flooring
- High-pressure laminate
