Glue Down Carpet

If this is your first time installing a floor, consider installing carpet tiles with glue. Glue down carpet one of the easiest floor types to install - and if you choose carpet tiles, can also be relatively easy to repair in the event of damage. Just simply lift the carpet tile up, remove any old carpet adhesive from the subfloor, and replace with a new one.

Gluing down carpet tiles can be as simple as putting adhesive on a clean and dirt-free subfloor and laying down the carpet tiles (or carpet roll) on top. Subfloor types that glue down carpet can be installed on top of include concrete and wood. Carpet glue can be applied to the subfloor with a trowel, a triangular-shaped blade often used to smooth down concrete installation.

Glue down carpet installation is suitable for a wide range of household areas, including rooms that receive a high level of foot traffic. In fact, glue down carpet is a popular choice for commercial environments such as government buildings and other public facilities. Note that carpet that is installed over a hard surface (e.g. concrete) often has a shorter lifetime than carpet that's installed over a carpet pad. Double glue down carpet tiles and carpet rolls are directly glued to a carpet pad which is then glued directly to the subfloor. If you want your carpet to last for a long time, consider double glue down carpet as an option for your home.
