Saxony carpet is distinctive by its cut loop pile style of manufacture. When people refer to Saxony carpet as a carpeting type they are talking about the type of carpet with cut loop pile. The weave of the carpet is in loops that are finally sheared off to create a surface that is tufted and even. Because of the denseness of the weave, Saxony carpet has an astonishingly soft, plush feel.

Saxonies are exclusive carpets that make a style statement and adorn the floors of only the best homes.

The Saxony Carpet Company in New York City, which was founded in 1947. The company is a byword in broadloom carpets in a wide range of designs and styles. Their carpets are from silk, linen and wool in various designer weaves like Ann Smith, Albert Pinto, Alicante and Wiltonian.

The family–owned company has now extended its reach through over 100 licensed dealers and agents to cover the whole of Continental North America.

Apart from its elegant look of class, a Saxony carpet is extremely soft and plush. While this bestows it with that feeling of class, the downside is that some Saxony carpets are difficult to maintain. They easily show marks such as footprints which makes the carpet most unsuitable for high traffic areas.
