Let's say you accidentally tip over a candle in the middle of a romantic dinner that your lovely wife spent hours preparing. Red candle wax spills all over your beautiful white carpet! Oops! Worry not! The evening isn't over just yet. After a bit of research on the Internet, I've found what looks like a surefire method to completely get rid of candle wax from carpeting. As always, you'll want to test this method on a small area of carpeting first.
Here are the steps:
1) Before you begin, scrape off any wax that you can with a putty knife or butter knife. This makes the process easier and faster.
2) Place a brown paper bag or several layers of white paper towels on the wax. Be careful not to use the side of the bag or paper towel with printing or design, or the dye may stain the floor.
3) Use an iron on the lowest setting and gently run it over the area. Use fresh paper/ paper towels to soak up the wax and oils.
4) If the wax leaves a stain, gently dab the stain with a small amount of rubbing alcohol.
This method is easy and will definitely keep you from spending the rest of the evening on the couch-unless you burn the carpet. Remember: use the lowest iron setting! If you know of other effective methods to remove candle wax stains, please post them as comments on this blog.
