Removing Blood From Carpet

Perhaps one of your little ones got a "boo-boo" or you were visited by a less-than-tidy vampire on Halloween and now you have blood on your beautiful carpet. Have no fear! I've combed the Internet searching for the best ways to get blood out of carpet and have compiled some of the most promising methods below. As with any stain removal project, always remember to blot rather than rub and to test any stain removal liquid on a small hidden section of your carpet to ensure it won't damage or discolor it.

Try one of these methods:

1) Spray the stain with cool water and sprinkle table salt on it. Allow it to dry and vacuum up remaining salt. Repeat as necessary. (Seems simple, but many people claim that salt by itself is enough!)
2) Use a mixture of hydrogen peroxide and cool water to spray down the stain. You can also combine these first two ideas and use a combination of salt and the peroxide mixture.
3) Use tonic water to saturate the stain and then use a wet-dry vac to extract the liquid.
4) Use a cup of cold tap water mixed with a tablespoon of ammonia. (Be careful not to inhale the fumes!)

Some people faint at the sight of blood, so you can use these tips to avoid scaring your friends or houseguests! If you have another blood stain removal method that you've found to be effective, feel free to post it in the comments of this blog!

thank you! I used the table salt technique as well on my disgusting, makes me want to vomit in my mouth, blood splatted carpet. No - no one got stabbed or shot it was my poor clumsy niece who stepped on glass and bled everywhere! I too agree with Marissa , the sale trick works!
