How to Remove Lipstick from Carpet

Red lipstick can be a great way to give yourself a sexy pout... but if it falls into the wrong hands, (your kids, for instance) you might end up with bright red spots on your carpet. Don't fret! I've searched the Internet for some of the best ways to remove lipstick stains from carpet and compiled a list of some of the most popular below.

Tips: When performing any stain removal remember to blot rather than rub. You should also test any cleaning solution on a small hidden section of your carpet first to ensure it won't damage or discolor your type of carpet.

Here are a few ways to remove a lipstick stain:

  1. Gently rub the lipstick with a simple bar of white soap and a white clean washcloth dampened with warm water. Repeat and rinse.
  2. Massage petroleum jelly into the stain and then scrape it up with a spoon or blunt knife. Repeat until no more lipstick is visible. Follow up with a mild detergent mixed with warm water to remove the residue and rinse.
  3. Spray a lubricant/cleaner (such as WD-40TM) onto the lipstick stain and blot with a clean white cloth. Then clean the area with mild detergent mixed into warm water. Rinse and repeat if needed.

While a couple of these ideas may seem a little bit out of the ordinary, I found multiple sites suggesting each of them. Hopefully one of them will work for you! If you have another lipstick stain removal tip feel free to share it by posting a comment at the end of this blog!
