How to Remove Coffee from Carpet

While coffee can be a great morning pick-me-up, spilling it on your carpet can be a real downer. Don't fret! I've searched the Internet for some of the best methods to remove coffee stains from your carpet. Below are a number of different methods you can try. Remember to always test any cleaning solution on a small hidden area of carpet to ensure it won't damage or discolor your floor! Also, make sure you blot stains rather than rub them, as rubbing can spread the stain or imbed it further into your carpet.

Here are some different methods I've found:

  1. Dilute the stain with water and blot/absorb with a clean white cloth. Repeat until the stain is no longer visible.
  2. Or, instead of water, use club soda to lift the stain from the carpet. Once applied, sprinkle table salt or baking soda on top of the club soda and leave for 30 minutes so it can absorb the fluid. Then vacuum it up and repeat as needed.
  3. Mix together one part of white vinegar with two parts of water and apply to the stain. Blot to remove.
  4. Mix a teaspoon of mild dish detergent into a cup of lukewarm water and pour onto the stain. Blot to remove.
  5. Apply dry-cleaning liquid and then rinse with water.

Coffee may seem like a tricky stain, but with the above ideas you should be able to remove it from your carpet. If you have another coffee stain-removal method, feel free to post a comment at the end of this blog!
