Traditioanl Area Rug in Room - DescrArea rugs are a great way to accent your home décor. With unlimited possibilities in color and design and even shape and texture, you are pretty much guaranteed to find any style you are looking for in an area rug. To help you get started, here are some area rug design ideas that you may choose from:

  • For those with a taste for vibrant colors and bold patterns, art deco inspired area rugs may be the perfect choice.
  • For those looking to add elegance and sophistication to a room, traditional Oriental style rugs with central medallions or rugs with floral motifs are popular.
  • If your style consists of simplistic, earth toned colors, you may prefer the natural look of sisal, jute, coir, or other natural fiber area rugs.
  • Braided area rugs and rugs that have gone through an antique washing are popular in country style homes.
  • For a retro flair, try shag area rugs which, similar to shag carpet, have thick, long, fluffy piles.
  • If you are choosing an area rug for high traffic room or room where spills may occur, such as a dining room, choose busy patterns with darker colors which help to hide stains better than plain, lightly colored area rugs.

I love area rugs. I have them all over my home. It makes my house look richer and more elegant without spending a bundle of cash. I bought a lot of area rugs from Target, WalMart, and even Home Depot. You would be surprised to find all the neat things in Home Depot (I would have never guessed until I actually went there. I also recommend one thing to anyone reading-instead of replacing your area rugs with new ones to spice up your home just move your rugs from one room to another. It's amazing to have the same rug make a room look completely different just by moving it to another place! Try it out

Great idea about switching rugs from one room to another! Home Depot does have a lot of nice rugs. I was suprised too.

Thanks for sharing ladies! I bought an area rug from Home Depot and it seems like Home Depot is the only place that carries area rugs that are big enough for my foyer I have been trying to complete for the past 6 months! I finally found an area rug there and it fits in my foyer perfectly! Pretty affordable price for such a large area rug too.

I had a custom rug made for me by Natural Area Rugs since I needed a very large one for our living room.
