The Kalaty Rug Corp., commenced business in Iran over a century ago. The founder was the present CEO’s grandfather. The American branch was established in 1979, with headquarters in the rug district of New York. Kalaty offers a vast selection of collections in contemporary and traditional designs. These comprise an eclectic mix including Oriental art.

Most of the rugs in the company’s range are available in standard sizes, in rectangular shapes. However certain select series are also offered in circles, squares, gallery sizes and custom sizes. Kalaty Rugs has a unique coloring service. A customer can choose a rug from certain selections and custom color it from a broad palette of colors on offer.

Here are some of Kalaty’s latest offerings:

  • Soumak Natural
The latest series of truly green rugs which are woven of premium undyed wool.
  • The Murano Collection
Comprises weave rugs with thin borders woven in the Oushak style. The yarn used is premium hand spun with deliberate high abrash. This treatment gives the rug a dark to light effect from one end to another.
  • The Mojave Collection
A series in Nepal weave using premium hand spun wool. The designs are Southwestern in character. The rugs have no fringe for a clean look.
