Area Rug pads are a must have under your rugs, not only for your safety, but for the safety of your area rugs and floors
beneath.
There are many benefits to using area rug pads. They help to create a non–slip surface over hard smooth floor
coverings. Additionally, area rug pads provide cushioning under your area rug that works as a shock absorber, protecting
your area rug and floor, as well as your joints. There are thick rug pads which are often ¼” thick and thinner ones that are
1/8” thick or less. Depending on the type of area rug you have, recommended rug pad thicknesses will vary.
You can also find different area rug pad shapes to fit the shape of your rug, whether it is round, oval, square, octagonal
or the standard rectangular shape. Depending on the type of floor it is being installed over, different types of area rugs
pads will be recommended. Some area rug pads are only safe over specific floor coverings. Installing the wrong type of area
rug pad can lead to discoloring of your floor covering and other problems. Be sure to check with the area rug manufacturer
to see what area rugs pads are recommended as well as the manufacturer of the pad.
